What is Contributed Rakeback?
Contributed Rakeback is an online poker
Rakeback offer that pays Rakeback to players who actually contribute
to the pot, meaning they put at least one chip into a raked pot before
folding. Even the minimum Small Blind bet is considered a contribution
to the pot. The player then earns a Rakeback percentage based on the
percentage of their contribution to the pot.
To better explain the process, we offer
an example of a raked hand.
Let's say you're at an online poker
table with 6 players. The SB and BB automatically contribute. you call
the Big Blind, as does one other player. Everyone else folds without
contributing. As the hand goes on, you contribute a total of $10 to
the pot, which reaches a total of $60 before the hand ends.
Remember, it doesn't matter how many
players contribute. Your Rakeback is based solely on the amount you
contribute.
With a little simple mathematics, we
can determine that your contribution of $10 is exactly 1/6th of the
total $60 pot. Therefore your contributed Rakeback will be paid out
based on 1/6th of the overall rake. Keep reading below to learn exactly
how Contribute Rakeback is calculated.
How to Calculate Contributed Rakeback
To explain how to calculate Contributed
Rakeback, we will use the same example hand from above. In this example,
you contributed $10 to a $60 pot.
Step 1: Find the percentage you contributed to the pot. The formula is:
100 / Pot = Y
Y x Your Contribution = Your Contributed
Percentage
So for this hand, we would use the following equation:
100 / 60 = 1.66
1.66 x 10 = 16.66%
You contributed 16.66% of the pot and
rake.
Step 2: Calculate the rake from the overall pot size. The industry standard poker rake is 5% of the pot, not to exceed $3. The formula is:
Pot x 0.05 (5%) = Rake
With a $60, the equation is:
$60 x 0.5 = $3
The total Rake is $3.
Step 3: Find your Rake percentage. The formula is
Rake x Contributed Percentage = Contributed
Rake
You contributed 16.66% to the pot, raked at $3, so...
$3 x .1666 = 0.4998
We'll round that up to $0.50 for convenience sake. Your Contributed Rake becomes $0.50.
Step 4: The final step is to find exactly
how much you'll earn in Contributed Rakeback, according to you Contributed
Rake. For this, we need to know the percentage your online poker Rakeback
is paying. The average is 30%, so we'll use this in our equation. You
should receive 30% of your Contributed Rake in contributed Rakeback.
The formula is:
Contributed Rake x Rakeback Percentage
(30%) = Contributed Rakeback
$0.50 x 0.3 = $0.15
Your total Contributed Rakeback earnings
for this hand would be $0.15. This is the amount you would be paid in
Contributed Rakeback.
Who Profits Most from Contributed Rakeback?
Contributed Rakeback benefits Aggressive
poker players most of all, especially Loose/Aggressive players. Since
Contributed Rakeback is based on the amount a player contributes, those
who tend to put a large amount of chips in the pot will earn the highest
profits from it.
Loose players tend to participate in
more hands, choosing not to fold more often than not. Aggressive players
are those that attack the pot, tossing more chips into the mix to scare
other players out or draw as many chips as possible into the pot when
holding a monster hand.
