Tournament Rakeback
The latest addition to the online poker
rakeback group is known as Tournament Rakeback. Unlike traditional Rakeback
offerings, Tournament Rakeback actually has nothing to do with poker
rake or cash game play in general. Tournament Rakeback is paid based
solely on your online poker tournament entries.
Because of the unique design of Tournament
Rakeback, it is not offered as an individual online poker rakeback deal.
Tournament Rakeback is presented in addition to some regular online
poker Rakeback programs, whether it is Contributed Rakeback, Shared
Rakeback or Dealt Rakeback. If you wish to sign up for Tournament
Rakeback, you'll need to find a traditional rakeback deal that includes
Tournament Rakeback.
What Is Tournament Rakeback?
Tournament Rakeback is when a player
receives a percentage of their paid tournament fees back into the poker
bankroll. Please note that only the tournament fee is applied to Tournament
Rakeback, not the buy-in amount. For example, entering a $10+$1 online
poker tournament would only pay a Tournament Rakeback percentage based
on the $1 fee, not the $10 buy-in.
How to Calculate Tournament Rakeback
Tournament Rakeback is one of the easiest
online poker rakeback deals to calculate, requiring only a single
equation rather than a series of calculations to determine the pot size,
rake size and eventual Rakeback amount. The only information required
is the percentage of Tournament Rakeback you receive, and the amount
of the tournament fee to be paid.
The average online poker Rakeback deal
offers 30% in Rakeback, therefore we will use a 30% Tournament Rakeback
in the examples below.
Example 1: You buy-in to a $20 tournament
with a $2 fee. All you must do is find 30% of $2. The easiest way to
do this is turn the Percent into a Decimal. This is quite simple...
30% = 0.30
25% = 0.25
20% = 0.20
5% = 0.05
You get the idea...
So the equation for 30% of $2 is:
$2 x 0.3 = $0.60
$0.60 is the amount you would receive
in Tournament Rakeback for this entry.
Now that we know the equation, further
examples will go much faster :)
Example 2: A $100+$10 online poker
tournament at 30% Tournament Rakeback...
$10 x 0.3 = $3
Example 3: $500 + $35 at 30% Tournament
Rakeback...
$35 x 0.3 = $10.50
To make things even easier, especially
for calculating 30% Tournament Rakeback in your head, try multiplying
the Fee by 3. Then add a zero on the end, and place your cash-wise decimal
(in front of the first two digits from the left) accordingly.
For example, in the case of the $20+$2
tournament - $2 x 3 = 6, then add a zero to make 60, and your cash-wise
decimal would go in front of the 60 to make $0.60. How about the $100+$10
tournament? 10 x 3 = 30, add the zero for 300, add the cash-wise decimal
and you get $3.00
Do I Need Tournament Rakeback?
That's a very good question. Let me
ask YOU a question - do you play pay-to-enter online poker tournaments?
If you answered yes, then your own answer is yes, you need Tournament
Rakeback. The only reason a player would not benefit Tournament Rakeback
is if 1) you don't play online poker tournaments, or 2) you only play
free online poker tournaments, such as freerolls, points tournaments,
etc.
